8/10 Stephen Tee (June 19, 2008)
janis joplin was killed by her mother, who told her she wished she'd never been born. Out of that heartbreak, Janis OD'd a mere couple of months later. If love is unconditional, her mother did not love her child, did not help her child, was abusive to her child, and should hang her head in the utmost shame for taking a great, great talent from the world.

Janis' version of 'Summertime' is the epitome of the San Fransisco sound and a wonderful, heartfelt rendering of the Gershwin classic.

A fabulous album.
