10/10 fairlight fm (September 17, 2005)
the best live renditions

of 4 epic tracks bringing a spell binding winding up the pyschedelic/barret era

unbeatable live tracks

set the controls / saucerfull of secrets

the mind blowing version of astromini domini
and the scary but hypnotic mind that axe eugene

the studio stuff pretty experimental but a prelude to atom heart and echoes

a must have in any self respecting record collection
8/10 hb (December 2, 2003)
strange, but sounds good when you're trashed. Some parts are scary.

If you know this album you can review it.

10/10 its good (May 7, 2010)
u gotta be a fan to afficiantly appreciate and engoy this equally. but noone ever gives it the credit i think it deserves.
2/10 Avoid. Fail. Worst Floyd. (March 20, 2010)
I have every other Floyd except for Atom Heart Mother, and this is the only one that truly sucks. One disc is studio & the other is live. The studio has almost nothing you'd call music. There's just noises & faint drums on occasion with something that's supposed to be musical now & then.
The second disc is definitely music, but it's live stuff from the previous albums that you can just barely tell is live. So you might as well listen to the studio stuff.
I've tried eight times to be open-minded about this album, but it doesn't matter. I've put this on as background while I'm cleaning up around the house, & I never hear anything interesting.
It's hard for me to believe that this was allowed to be released. Please buy used only.
6/10 received as advertised (March 14, 2010)
We like most of the Pink Floyd but this one was not as good as the others we have received. But the product was received quickly and it was new so it was advertised correctly.
10/10 8 minutes from an excellent live concert at The Boston Gardens (March 13, 2010)
The concert from which this song is lifted was done in black and white because that apparently is all WGBH of Boston would bank roll on these documentary background musicians from England...
WGBH says the concert is safe in the vault and there are no intentions of playing it, for now!
10/10 Ummagumma - the underrated sound experience (February 2, 2010)
I've always enjoyed the soundscape aspect of Pink Floyd. This CD set has a shining example of live Floyd with the peak songs of the psychadelic soundscape early floyd era. The second studio disc has loads of creative potential and a few jems with lyrics. the majestic powerful sounds of Sysyphus; the sweet airy sounds of Grantchester Meadows (a PF favorite of mine); the Narrow way is full of curiousity; the Grand Vizer's Garden is pure clean syncopated noises
