Now THIS is a great album!! \"Band On the Run\" is definitely one of Macca\'s best - I hesitate to say THE best because there are some other very very good ones out there. But nevertheless \"Band on the Run\" is a masterpiece! There is so much fun and energy and creativity in this album, how could you not love it?

This album is the ultimate MacCa album for me. It is just as good as a late beatle album. A bigger compliment you can not give, i suppose. What a richdom of melodies abd great & funny lyrics. And do not overlook the suberb bass playing and singing. My all time favorite 'Jet' is on it. His hidden message 'stuck inside these 4 walls' to his old mates. Mrs Vandebilt's no use of worrying. Lennon's voice and licks on Let me roll it. The New Blackbird called Bluebird. Helen wheels that rocks so good. Picasso's last words with a french move.. The loaded 1985 which was the end song in my town discoteque.
Band on the run thrills me everytime, and now it does with my children.

Along with George's "All Things Must Pass", the best post-Beatle
album, worthy of ranking alongside the very best of the Fab's albums.
The title track, "Jet", "Let Me Roll It", "Helen Wheels", and "1985" rank among his best ever--but not to understate the remaining tracks. Just so many great moments...the kick-start transition in "Band on the Run", the "what she say what she say yahoo!" vocals in "Jet", the crazy laughter in "Mrs. Vanderbilt", the hiccupping guitar riff near the end of "Let Me Roll It", the galloping guitar of "Helen Wheels", the climactic ending to "1985", and, my favorite (admittedly idiosyncratic): on "Mamunia", with Paul feeling the rain..."falling down your back". In over 30 years of listening I still expect the band to use a different part of the anatomy to complete the rhyme...

What can you say? This is McCartney's most highly regarded album and rightly so. Every track is a winner. The songs and production are first rate. It has, the still to this day, radio classics Band on the Run and Jet. It has the underrated gems Let me Roll It, 1985, Mrs. Vanderbilt, Bluebird. Alright so Mamunia and Picasso's Last Words aren't great but they "ain't" to bad either. Paul is at the peak of his solo career here. He would come close with Tug of War but this is really the high point.

This is simply McCartney's best solo album. There is not a bad song on the album. Many songs off album are still played often today.

An over rated album with a high number of winners. 1985 is superb whilst Picasso's Last Words seems to have dated somewhat.
