3/10 Bobber (July 11, 2007)
A major disappointment. John wanted Yoko to be on the album and he\'s paying a very high price for it. He, why rate only John\'s songs? It was him who wanted to be called johnandyoko, wasn\'t it? This is what you get. John\'s songs are alright at best, Yoko is awful as ever.
10/10 Erika (June 8, 2007)
The John songs on this album are just amazing, and if this album had been solely John songs, it would have been right up there with \"Imagine\"...why oh why did he have to include Yoko? Couldn\'t she just do her own album instead? Instead I have to jump up and hit the \"Next\" button every few songs.
10/10 Bruce Beatlefan (December 9, 2005)
John Lennon fought tooth and nail to maintain his humanity, overcoming the pain of his early life and the corrupting influences of unimaginable fame and fortune as a young man. After a five-year moratorium on music and publicity, John emerged with this wonderful album displaying a mature man who has found peace (all four Beatles have remained remarkably human in a show-business industry which turns people into monsters, aliens, or corpses). I received this album with such a relief and gratitude that John Lennon was at last truly happy...and then...some socipathic f*** decided to leave a young woman a widow and two young boys fatherless.

This will probably infuritate many Beatle/Lennon purists, but I was surprised to find Yoko Ono's music in this album to be fresh, original, and very, very enjoyable. Her compositions definitely enhance the album (I never ever thought I would say words like that around 1970)
8/10 john boutet (October 16, 2005)
Wow...songs 1,3,5,7,8,10 and 12 are great yet the other ones suck...I wonder why?
8/10 totalpackage (August 5, 2005)
What more can be said for a musician who actually defined music as we know it today. This album is his legacy left behind for all to enjoy. It's undertones leave chills throughout your body. Every song performed by Mr. Lennon is delivered with power, which ironically, was reflective of John's short lived journey on this planet. Listen to Rick Nielsen's superior licks on "I'm Losing You" and relate. John was a man dedicated to his family and Double Fantasy is his swan song.
8/10 John (July 20, 2005)
I am rating only John's songs here. In the 25 years since this was released, I have yet to listen to any of Yoko's songs. I don't intend to either. This was John's epitaph. His last statement before his tragic murder. My opinion is probably tainted for that reason. I love this album. Starting Over, a fifties sounding rocker. Perfect album opener and tells you exactly what the man was thinking at the time. I'm Losing You, about his insecurities and his relationship to Yoko. Beautiful Boy, a gorgeous love song to his son Sean. Something every parent can relate to and still brings a tear to my eye when I hear it. Watching the Wheels, describes what John was feeling about his absence from the music scene. A classic Lennon song. Woman, yet another Yoko inspired love song. Nicely done. When I listen to this album it brings back that whole period of time. The thrill of hearing John again after 5 years and then the absolute sadness after the murder. Since it's his last real album, I guess I cherish it all the more. God bless you John.
