Lonely Sea

Average song rating As simple as a lullaby and as sweet as a kiss, is this first Brian Wilson ballad (the first RELEASED ballad--he actually wrote "Surfer Girl" first but did not release it until later in 1963). Brian Wilson's falsetto accompanies a simply picked guitar waltz, with the backing harmonies pushed way into the background. "Lonely Sea" is the first glimpse into the melancholy side of Brian Wilson's soul, and is an exquisite listen. Bruce Beatlefan January 14, 2008

Lyrics

The lonely sea
The lonely sea
It never stops
For you or me
It moves along
From day to day

That's why my love (oooo-oooo-oooo)
That's why my love (oooo-oooo-oooo)
You'll never stay (oooo-oooo-oooo)
You'll never stay (oooo-oooo-oooo)

(Ooooooo)
This pain in my heart (ooooooooo)
These tears in my eyes (ooooooooo)
Please tell the truth (ooooooooo)
You're like the lonely sea (sea)
Sea (sea)
The lonely sea (sea)

(Lonely sea lonely sea)
(Lonely sea lonely sea)
Lonely sea

(Lonely sea lonely sea)
(Lonely sea lonely sea)
Lonely sea

(Lonely sea lonely sea)
(Lonely sea lonely sea)
Lonely sea
