In My Room

Average song rating Even though at this early date Brian Wilson and John Lennon were likely unaware of each other's existence, each writes strikingly similar songs hinting at the vast inner life that drove each man's creativity. John Lennon's "There's a Place" is a fine song that graces the Beatle's debut album Please Please Me, but in this Beatles fan's opinion, Lennon got totally trumped by this masterpiece, Brian Wilson's "In My Room". Lyrics

There's a world where I can go and tell my secrets to
In my room, in my room
In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears
In my room, in my room

Do my dreaming and my scheming
Lie awake and pray
Do my crying and my sighing
Laugh at yesterday

Now it's dark and I'm alone
But I won't be afraid
In my room, in my room
In my room, in my room
In my room, in my room
