Don't Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder)

Average song rating "Don't Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder)" may be the song that suffers most from Brian Wilson's ambition in the Pet Sounds project. Certainly the sentiment makes for a fine lyric, and the melody is nice enough, but here the orchestration is so overwrought with weird strings and tympanis, and Brian subjects his melody to so many key changes and falsetto reaches that the song's native beauty is very nearly lost. Often in the music world, less is more, and I would be very interested in a worthy singer performing this song alone, with an acoustic guitar or a piano. Then we might hear how this song could be great. Bruce Beatlefan May 5, 2008

Lyrics

I can hear so much in your sighs
And I can see so much in your eyes
There are words we both could say
But don't talk, put your head on my shoulder

Come close, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, take my hand and let me hear your heart beat
Being here with you feels so right
We could live forever tonight
Lets not think about tomorrow
And don't talk put your head on my shoulder

Come close, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, take my hand and listen to my heart beat
Listen, listen, listen.

Don't talk, put your head on my shoulder
Don't talk, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, put your head on my shoulder
Don't talk, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, put your head on my shoulder
