Maybe I'm Amazed

Average song rating A lot of people call this song overrated. It really isn't, for it's a great song. It's pretty obvious that this song was not recorded in a simple way, for it features three guitars, piano, bass guitar, drums and several vocal overdubs by Paul and Linda. Paul's piano and vocal are superb and got great dynamics. The double guitarsolo is absolutely brilliant tho simple. Well done. I believe Ringo would have made more of the drum part. The organ stabbing at the end is great.
The song got a lot of airplay at the time it was released, but wasn't released as a single. A live version was released as a single in 1976 with the release of Wings Over America. Paul must have felt the potential of the song tho, as a promotional film was made in 1970 with photos Linda had taken.

Average song rating His first masterpiece. Julio Martinez April 21, 2010
Average song rating "Maybe I'm Amazed" is the only fully-produced song on the entire album, and the energy Paul devoted to this song is apparent right from the opening seconds of the fade-in beginning. A true Paul McCartney classic, as he uncharacteristically bares his soul in this first-person lyric, expressing his soul's apprehension of accepting the love of a woman. One of the benchmark songs of Paul's post-Beatles career. Bruce Beatlefan November 17, 2008

Lyrics

Maybe I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time
Maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I'm amazed at the the way you pulled me out of time
And hung me on a line
Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you.

Maybe I'm a man and maybe I'm a lonely man
Who's in the middle of something
That he dosen't really understand.

Maybe I'm a man and maybe you're the only woman
Who could ever help me
Baby won't you help me understand.

Maybe I'm amazed at the way you're with me all the time
Maybe I'm afraid of the way I leave you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way you help me sing my song
Right me when I'm wrong
Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you.
