Big Barn Bed

Average song rating Paul picked up the first line of this song from the reprise of Ram On from his album Ram. I have a soft spot for this song and really like it. Acoustic guitar sounds good and Denny's drumming is as good as ever. I have become a fan of his style in the past few weeks, that's for sure. Drumming along with bass line and an attacking little crash here and there. What's that 'ananda owie'? Is it English for something? It does get a little annoying in the end. Working towards the end the different harmonies are all there and make for a good finale. Even the end is good. Good song this. Bobber April 11, 2012
Average song rating We know that Paul had written this song earlier, because you hear a snippet of it in Ram's "Ram On" reprise...so why didn't it make the Wild Life album? Two theories: (1) this song was a little too ambitious for what amounts to Linda's breaking-in album (2) having Big Barn Bed and Bip Bop on the same album is just too many B's.

This is a great sound, silly and fun and seemingly full of double-entendres like a Ram song, but one of Paul's most ambitious and complicated vocals which Denny and Linda pulled off superbly (although this didn't seem to faze the Linda-bashers of the day). And the lyric "leaping armadillo" just kills me every time.

Lyrics

Who's that coming round that corner
Who's that coming round that bend
Who's that coming round that corner, will it
Will it be my friend
Keep on sleeping in a big barn bed
Keep on sleeping in a big barn bed
Who you gonna weep on? / who you gonna sleep on?
Who you gonna creep on next?
Weeping on a willow / sleeping on a pillow
Leaping armadillo, yes
Keep on sleeping in a big barn bed etc.
Will it be my friend
Keep on sleeping in a big barn bed
Who you gonna weep on? / who you gonna sleep on?
Who's you gonna creep on next?
Weeping on a willow / sleeping on a pillow
Leaping armadillo, yes
Keep on sleeping in a big barn bed
Keep on sleeping in a big barn bed
