Flying to My Home

Average song rating If you disregard that easily dismissable barbershop intro (why the hell did Paul feel it necessary to do that?), you have the first piece of pure verse-and-chorus crunching-guitars rock-and-roll in God-knows-how-long. A wonderful simple rocker by Paul singing about returning home to his 'sweet majesty' (which makes you wonder when the hell were they ever separated?).

The most remarkable feature of the song is Paul's vocal--he tightens his throat and barks out this song in a voice which is somewhat reminiscent of his 1964 Beatles song "She's a Woman"--and moreover is strikingly similar to Pete Townshend's voice.

Lyrics

The sun is fading in the west
Out where the cattle roam
I'm like a bird at the end of the day
Flying to my home
I'm flying to my home sweet majesty
I'm flying to my home

The sky is like a painted flag
Above a sea of chrome
I've got a woman living in my life
Living in my home
I'm flying to my home sweet majesty
I'm flying to my home

I haven't been back for so long
I don't know if I'm going to recognise it
They gave the old place a new face
And I'm going to take some time
To size the situation up

I haven't been back for so long
I don't know if I'm going to recognise it
They gave the old place a new face
And I'm going to take some time
To size the situation up

The sun is fading in the west
Out where the cattle roam
I've got a woman living in my life
Living in my home
I'm flying to my home sweet majesty
I'm flying to my home
I'm flying to my home
I'm flying to my home
I'm flying to my home
I'm flying to my home sweet majesty
I'm flying to my home...
