Cafe on the Left Bank

Average song rating Rocker. I hate that semi spontaneous talk in the background, like done in the intro of the song. I understand it has to sound like pubtalk, but it annoys me. On the other hand I like the cowbell. Nice guitar throughout the song. Is this Jimmy playing or had he left by then? The song itself is not a favourite of mine, but I can bear with this song because of the great guitars.

Average song rating Ditto the comments made about "London Town"--Paul rocks a little more in this Paris portrait, but his brush strokes don't leave any kind of vivid picture or feeling at all. Bruce Beatlefan March 18, 2006

Lyrics

Cafe on the left bank, ordinary wine
Touching all the girls with your eyes
Tiny crowd of Frenchmen round a TV shop
Watching Charles de Gaulle make a speech

Dancing after midnight, sprawling to the car
Continental breakfast in the bar
English-speaking people drinking German beer
Talking far too loud for their ears

Cafe on the left bank, ordinary wine
Touching all the girls with your eyes

Dancing after midnight, crawling to the car
Cocktail waitress waiting in the bar
English-speaking people drinking German beer
Talking way too loud for their ears.
