Lunch Break (Peter Knight) - 1:53 / Peak Hour

Average song rating This track features two distinct elements: "Lunch Break" is purely an orchestral passage in which Peter Knight picks up the pace with hurried music giving the impression of a midday traffic jam, with elements of "Dawn is a Feeling" thrown in. In the scope of the entire album, this works well as a short intermission. Following that the orchestra drops out and we get a purely Moody Blues rocker, John Lodge's first recorded release as a member of the group. "Peak Hour" is as close as this album gets to conventional British Invasion rock music. Note how the drums joining the bridge with the instrumental passage foresee the opening seconds of a later Lodge song, "I'm Just a Singer". Standing out from the rest of the album with it's "grimy" sound, "Peak Hour" excels mostly for that reason. Bruce Beatlefan November 12, 2011

Lyrics

I see it all through my window it seems
Never failing like millions of bees
All that is wrong
No time will be won
All they need to do-o-o-o
What can be done?

Peak hour, peak hour, peak hour

Minds are subject to what should be done
Problem solved, time cannot be won
One hour a day
One hour at night
Sees crowds of people
All meant for flight

Peak hour, peak hour, peak hour

It makes me want to run out and tell them
They've got time
Take a step back out
And look in at their debt
And their time

Minds are subject to what should be done
Problem solved, time cannot be won
One hour a day
One hour at night
Sees crowds of people
All meant for flight

Peak hour, peak hour, peak hour
