The Morning: Another Morning

Average song rating It's amazing to me that "Another Morning" gives us our first glimpse of Ray Thomas's songwriting gifts after three years of recording. Compares favorably with songs like "See Emily Play" (Pink Floyd) and "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush" (Traffic) for the uniquely British style of childlike psychedelia--except I think Thomas's intentions are purely childlike with no intention of acidic influence. Lyrics such as "Mary Green today's a queen/one thousand dollies are a'dreaming..." grace one of the most delightful melodies imaginable which, admittedly, bears little resemblance to rock and roll as I understand it! Just the beginning of the unique voice of Ray Thomas. Bruce Beatlefan November 12, 2011

Lyrics

Balloons flying
Children sighing
What a day to go kite flying
Breezy school
Away from school
Cowboys fighting out a duel

Time seems to stand quite still
In a child's world it always will

Fishes biting
So exciting
Lunchtime sounds so inviting
At the bill
He gets a thrill
Sitting, watching Bobby Quill

Time seems to stand quite still
In a child's world it always will

Yesterday's dreams
Are tomorrow's sighs
Watch children playing
They seem so wise

Mary Green
Today's a queen
One thousand dollies are her dream
In cotton frocks
And golden locks
Her palace is an orange box

Time seems to stand quite still
In a child's world it always will
