Dawn: Dawn is a Feeling

Song ratings

Rating Comments Author Date
Average song rating During the Moodies' frustrating years as an R&B group that couldn't follow up "Go Now", Michael Pinder (working with Denny Laine) was the group's primary songwriter, composing a series of failed singles in the R&B format. "Dawn is a Feeling" doesn't sound even remotely like any of his previous efforts, it is as though being released from the R&B format allowed his creative juices to finally flow. "Dawn is a Feeling" is majestic and lovely, and must have been quite a vindicating moment for Pinder. Unusually for a Michael Pinder song, Justin Hayward takes the lead vocal (Pinder sings the bridge), and the orchestral touches from Peter Knight beautify the song and further enhance the mood of the album. Lyrics

Dawn is a feeling
A beautiful ceiling
The smell of grass
Just makes you pass
Into a dream

You're here today
No future fears
This day will last
A thousand years
If you want it to

You look around you
Things they astound you
So breathe in deep
You're not asleep
Open your mind

You're here today
No future fears
This day will last
A thousand years
If you want it to

Do you understand
That all over this land
There's a feeling
In minds far and near
Things are becoming clear
With a meaning

Now that you're knowing
Pleasure starts flowing
It's true life flies
Faster than eyes
Could ever see

You're here today
No future fears
This day will last
A thousand years
If you want it to
