Some People Never Know

Average song rating A bit more like it. The acoustic guitar at the start sounds good, at least compared to all the songs on side 1. Linda's harmonies don't sound too convincing, but I'll dig it. The guitar solo (at 1.55) isn't that great and consists merely of the vocal line. Piano sounds good. Once again a song that is far too long to remain exciting till the end, but at least it shows but this band is able to. Bobber April 11, 2012
Average song rating Is it about the male temptation to take "second best," away from home and hearth, even though there is a Lovely Linda to come home to? Eric Stewart September 23, 2011
Average song rating With lyrics such as "only fools would disagree that it's so..." and "some people can sleep at nighttime, believing that love is a lie...", it becomes apparant that "Some People Never Know" and NOT "Dear Friend" is Paul's true response to John Lennon's scathing "How Do You Sleep" from his Imagine album.

"Some People Never Know" is laid-back and acoustic, in the manner of the most languid James Taylor song, with Paul and Linda trading lines and duetting. The flaw of the song may be that it goes on in excess of six minutes, but it's a pleasant listen and a great two-thirty-in-the-morning sort of song.

Lyrics

No one else will ever see
How much faith you have in me,
Only fools would disagree that it's so,
Some people never know.

Like a fool I'm faraway,
Ev'ry night I hope and pray
I'll be coming home to stay and it's so,
Some people never know.

Some people can sleep at nightime,
Believing that love is a lie.
I'm only a preson like you, love,
And who in the world can be right
All the right time.
I know I was wrong, make me right, right.

Only love can stand the test,
Only you outshine the rest,
Only fools take the rest,
Only fools take second best, but it's so,
Some people never know.
