Manon Lescaut premiered at the Teatro Regio in Turin in 1893. Puccini’s third opera and his first great triumph, it established the young composer’s international reputation. Based on the novel by Abbé Prévost, the opera follows the doomed love affair of Manon and Des Grieux with music of intense lyricism and dramatic power.
