- 1887 November 24 — Victorien Sardou's play La Tosca premiered at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris with Sarah Bernhardt in the title role. This play became the basis for Puccini's opera Tosca
- 1900 January 14 — Giacomo Puccini’s opera "Tosca" premiered at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome.
- 1901 February 4 — U.S. premiere of Giacomo Puccini’s "Tosca" at the Metropolitan Opera (New York).
