It was a very good idea to give Yoko her own version of this album, complete with almost the identical front cover. The fact that Yoko’s album has been long forgotten, should have shown John that he was better off without Yoko, musically.
I have experienced this album as an intense listen. Even though I’m not a native English speaker and don’t pick up every bit of lyric immediately. But credits to John for trying to show us his inner self on this album and giving us some decent music at last.

A great album! \"Mother,\" \"I Found Out,\" \"Isolation,\" and \"Look at Me\" are just incredible. However, there are a few songs on here that really annoy me - \"Working Class Hero\" (since when was John working class? Even before the Beatles he was middle class - his aunt made his working-class friends George and Paul come into his house through the back door because she didn\'t want to be associated with them - or at least according to some book I read a few months back) and \"God\" (repetitive melody, repetitive lyrics, just meant to shock).

What can i say about this album, its without doubt the best beatle solo album by a mile.Its pure JOHN LENNON genius back to basics guitars, drums piano and a vocal from the bottom of LENNONS soul,you can feel his angst.WORKING CLASS HERO is a masterpiece,LENNONS song writing is as good as any BEATLE album.In my opinon its one the greatest albums ever recorded,i loved when i bought in 1978 i love it today 2006,Two years later JOHN was murdered ,i was deverstated this was the album i played when got home from work ,would he ever made an album better than this maybe not, but that cold december night for me that was the day music died.

If ANYONE besides John Lennon had made this album, I would have listened to it once and immediately broken it over my knee. Over the years I have learned to tolerate, grudgingly understand, and finally love this album. I honestly still don't know how to rate it as a whole. "Mother" and "Look at Me" are just all-time classics. "Well Well Well", "Remember", and "Isolation" are genuinely enjoyable. "Love" simply does not work for me: 'Love is Real, real is love' is no better a lyric than George's 'I dig love, I love dig.'
Too much of the rest of this album has all the charm, and artistic merit, of a seven-year-old throwing a tantrum in a crowded restaurant.

John fared better than his ex writing partner with his 1970 solo release. This is a masterpiece. You can not help but be moved and sometimes brought to tears when listening to this album. John gives us a journey into his thoughts. His innermost feelings of his mother, the pain of losing his dad and the trappings of celebrity. It's a glimpse of John's emotional state after the breakup. It is sometimes tough to listen to because you can hear the pain and suffering in his voice. An amazing album. Well worth a listen.
